Reticulated Python
Reticulated Python (Malayopython reticulatus)
The Reticulated Python is one of the longest snakes in the world, with some individuals reaching over 6 metres in length! Native to Southeast Asia, this powerful constrictor is named for its stunning net-like (reticulated) scale pattern—an intricate mosaic of gold, black, and white that provides perfect camouflage in dense jungle environments.
Despite their size, Reticulated Pythons are agile swimmers and climbers, often found near rivers and swamps. They are non-venomous and use constriction to subdue their prey, which can include birds, mammals, and even deer or pigs in the wild.
These incredible snakes are both feared and revered in their native range. At Crocodiles of the World, our Reticulated Pythons help us educate visitors about the beauty, power, and importance of large reptiles in their ecosystems, as well as the need to protect their habitats.
