Clouded Leopard

With its striking cloud-like markings and graceful movements, the Clouded Leopard is one of the most elusive and beautiful big cats in the world. Native to the forests of Southeast Asia, this rare feline is a master of the treetops, using its long tail for balance and flexible ankles to climb head-first down trees—something few other cats can do.

Despite being relatively small compared to other big cats, Clouded Leopards have impressively long canine teeth and powerful jaws, earning them the nickname “modern-day saber-tooth.” Their diet includes monkeys, birds, and deer, hunted with stealth and agility in dense jungle habitats.

Listed as Vulnerable due to deforestation and poaching, the Clouded Leopard is rarely seen in the wild. At Crocodiles of the World, we help shine a spotlight on this secretive species and support vital conservation efforts to protect their rainforest homes.
